Abstract
Gifted  children are distinguished for their high performance in intelligence tests, their persistence in achieving goals, and for their highly creative thinking. But does their emotional development go hand in hand with their mental development? International research contradicts others claiming gifted children have emotional difficulties, while others argue that high intelligence acts as a protective umbrella for preventing and overcoming emotional difficulties. The present study attempts a bibliographic review of international scientific articles to identify the most important references to this topic.
