Abstract

The purpose of the research was to examine the way in which handedness develops and evolves over time and its relation to memory. In 407 children (Elementary School G-F primary and upper secondary school students), the Edinburgh Questionnaire, the Handwriting Quotient Test (WHP), the Stick Test and the Memory Test were applied. The findings showed that there was no change in the handedness of children during their development. In addition, a relationship was found between the children's handedness and the performance of memory, since whether someone is right-handed or left-handed affects the correct recall in the memory of a face photograph. Also, right-handed children are likely to recall their left-hand profile and left-handed children to recall their profile in the right direction. Finally, for primary school children, it was found that the use of right or left hand in painting affects their view. The results of the survey illustrate the way in which the handedness develops over time, as well as his relation to the performance of memory in primary school children. Since in high school children this relationship has not clearly emerged, it needs further investigation.
