Abstract

In this context, teachers working in special education structures are called upon to respond to their demanding work for the social inclusion of people with disabilities. The purpose of this research is to investigate the views of teachers on whether and to what extent the teaching program and the overall function of the Special Vocational Education & Training Workshop (E.E.E.E.K.) of Paramythia and Ptolemaida contribute to the social inclusion of pupils. In order to conduct the survey, we chose the method of quantitative approach and as data collection tool the questionnaire which was built specifically for this research. The results prove that E.E.E.E.K. do not remove the social exclusion of people with disabilities, since they are structures disconnected from the other educational structures, the educators that teach are not permanent and do not have specialization in the special education and, moreover, the existence of various problems in the functioning of the E.E.E.E.K. is a known fact (Finance, Housing, etc.).Through our work, we seek to contribute to the research on the institution of special education and especially on issues related to the E.E.E.E.K. structure, regarding their operation. The results of our research could be useful and exploited in the overall design of special education programs by special education providers.
