Seeking leadership and leaders in education
Abstract
The way in which each educational system is organized is based on a political philosophy of values and a specific pedagogical and educational ideology and is linked to the productive needs of each country.
These options determine the degree of centralization or decentralization of the system, shape the distributions of power, responsibility and responsibility between the individual structures, determine the operating framework and types of school units, support, training and evaluation systems for executives and teachers. The nature of the education system also determines the scope that management and guidance educators and class teachers have in teaching.
The introduction of educational innovations and the requirement to respond to students' learning specificities define the framework of school unit autonomy and the degree of freedom in programs, objectives, teaching methodologies, choice of educational material. Diversified educational policies require flexibility in goal setting, teaching methodology, knowledge-building guidance, skills development and positive values development.
Implementation of this educational policy presupposes that education executives are 'transformational leaders' and classroom teachers as 'catalyst leaders' in the educational process.
