Abstract
Gifted children are not an homogeneous population but are characterized by heterogeneity. Their special educational needs are indisputable and determined by their special talents and their particular way of thinking. In their heterogeneous population, a group of both -gifted and learning disabled children is included. Dual heterogeneity consists of the simultaneous coexistence of charisma and academic difficulties. These pupils are at risk of not being recognized and deprived of the specific support they are entitled to. Often, they show up problematic behaviors, stemming from their early cognitive development, mismanagement of their social environment, and lack of timely and comprehensive diagnosis. A valid and timely educational and counseling intervention is crucial to the development of these students, who can benefit from a multitude of personalized programs that enhance their skills and learn them to manage their weaknesses.
