Abstract

Each person's social status is a function of that is acquired through education, which is officially transferred to society, offering the citizen additional rights regarding flexibility in equal participation. A group that encounters obstacles in this direction is disabled people who are called upon to face discrimination from the lower levels of education, which provokes educational and social encroachment. The purpose of the research was to identify the dominant inequalities faced by people with disabilities from their first contact with education, as well as the correlation of their negative experiences with the acquisition of the philosophy of lifelong learning.

The method of research was qualitative, so interviews with people with disabilities were conducted in order to ascertain the inequalities experienced during their education and their influence on their subsequent educational course. The results assured that there is a direct interaction between the barriers to education of people with disabilities and their intention to continue in the context of lifelong learning, which perpetuates the issue of inequality and undoubtedly affects the possibility of their consolidation in society.
