Η χρήση της Υποστηρικτικής Τεχνολογίας Σε Άτομα Με Κινητικές Αναπηρίες

Abstract

It is a fact that we live at a time when everything around us is changing at enormous rates. Technology and its inventions have contributed to this impetuous course and have influenced the way of life of thousands of people around the world, particularly western culture, while facilitating communication between peoples, thereby removing borders. Therefore, the use of different forms of technology has helped to improve the quality of life of all people with significant improvement especially in the lives of people experiencing some form of dysfunction or disability. This technology, called Assistive Technology and is the subject of this paper, is a form of simple or high technology, which is used and personalized to Disabled People in order to be as independent as possible. There are a number of devices that are used according to the individual needs of each individual, as well as the form of disability (eg kinetic - physical disability). However, in order to take advantage of the appropriate Assistive Technology, it is first necessary to evaluate the individual in all skill areas by qualified scientists and then to provide the necessary support aid. Finally, this paper presents the conclusions and proposes further research and information especially in Greece where, due to various economic and other problems, people with disabilities have difficulty obtaining and purchasing the necessary Assistive Technology devices.
