Abstract

Aggressiveness has been a source of deep concern and dispute in psychology and humanities at large. Based on the theoretical approach, many different and contrasting points of view have been offered about the nature and the source of aggressiveness.

Aggressive behavior is one of the most common childhood problems and one of the most frequent reasons why these children are prompted to seek consultation.

A child is described as :"aggressive" when it usually reacts in a more hostile and violent way toward the others. The phenomenon of violence and aggressiveness comprises a set of activities and actions which have the effect of physical and emotional harm, injury of people in a social environment or it can also involve harming personal property. Some key factors that contribute to the development of aggressive behavior are, for example, family structure, impairment of system of values and patterns, unfavorable conditions in the wider society, influences of friends, groups, "significant others" and most importantly the mass media that promotes stereotypes and standards though various programs.

This presentation provides an overview for the conceptual framework of aggressiveness. This includes term definition, types of aggressive behavior in daily life and key factors that contribute to the manifestation of the phenomenon. Last, we will refer in detail to some indicative animated television series for children which, directly or indirectly, feature scenes of violence.
