Abstract

The study of leadership is a rapidly evolving field: new theories are being developed, new models of management are being proposed, and research is being carried out continuously. However, leadership as a distinctive charisma has not received much attention, neither in terms of research nor from the development of charismatic training programs. Moreover, there is no consensus on the relationship between leadership and charismatic behavior. This paper attempts to demonstrate the differences of charisma from other forms of leadership, based on socio-emotional, behavioral and pedagogical dimensions. An extensive review of the relevant articles is made to explore the basic parameters that make a person a "charismatic" leader. An effort is being made to clarify critical terms and answer critical questions: What is charisma? What is leadership? Is there the charisma of leadership? Does leadership really come from charisma or is it acquired? Can leadership skills be taught? Finally, the traits of the "charismatic" leader and his behavior are investigated to check whether the "charismatic" leadership has negative meanings.
