Abstract
This article aims to define the main actions of teachers in encouraging creativity. Furthermore, it aims to present the research conducted in order to investigate if teachers, who teach the course Modern Greek language on the first grade of high school, nurture creative thinking in daily teaching act. The research methods that have been chosen are observation and interview. The results of our research show that teachers do not nurture student’s creative skills, they do not use creative processes and techniques and they do not ensure a positive creative atmosphere. It is noted that teachers are unaware of the nature of creativity and how it can be developed. Therefore, teachers should be educated on this subject.
