Abstract

This paper presents a Project for the subject of Greek Language of the 4th form of the Greek Primary School, under the title “Learning direct and indirect speech”. The central teaching technique of the Project is the differentiated teaching, covering 5 teaching hours. This Project constitutes part of the 9th unit of the school book entitled "The Show Begins", and more specifically, the unit entitled "Birds".

This Project is ideal for a classroom consisting of students with different learning abilities (low-ability, medium- ability and high- ability/gifted students). The basic aim of the project is the pupils to learn the direct and indirect speech. More precisely, through the activities described in the Project, students will be able to recognize and identify the direct and indirect speech, to recognize the characteristics of each speech, to convert the direct speech to indirect and vice versa, and to understand the circumstances of everyday life and art under which each kind of speech is used. Furthermore, this Project aims to make the students express through art (dramatization, painting, comic writing) and work as a team member in the classroom.
