Abstract
The purpose of this study is, through a comprehensive review of the bibliography, to present the current trends in evaluation, specifically that of authentic evaluation and to propose the possibilities this application holds for the field of pre-school education. The Portfolio, which is the most widespread version of authentic evaluation, will be extensively analyzed and relevant examples will be given regarding the aim, the sections, the types and the way to project file may be created. Finally, an alternative way of evaluation will be proposed through a case study of a student with special needs which attempts a greater focus on the precise needs of the child.
