Συναισθήματα, Διαπροσωπικές σχέσεις και Επικοινωνία σε παιδικές ταινίες: Μια εφαρμοσμένη παιδαγωγική πρόταση

Abstract
Content analysis of cinema films highlights new ways of approaching the learning procedure and conduces to the utilization and the application of socioeducational techniques in the classroom. The aim of the present work is the analysis of the film «Inside Out» laying emphasis on emotions, interpersonal relationships and verbal and/or non verbal communication. The main objective of this essay is its creative utilization by the teacher. The methodology followed in this study is the content analysis where three thematic units are used; the emotions, the interpersonal relationships and the communication. Each thematic unit includes relevant categories. In the analysis process it was found that the dominant emotion of the film is Joy not only in terms of frequency in movie scenes but also concerning the total duration. Meanwhile, in the field of interpersonal relationships, the scenes which showed up more in the film in terms of frequency and duration, are these which capture family harmony and serenity moments. In parallel, it is concluded that there are no scenes where verbal communication appears exclusively as it is highly connected with face expressions, corporal gestures and other non verbal actions. Taking into consideration the results of this content analysis, experiential activities which can be utilized by the teacher are recommended for children aged 10-12. The whole film could be handled as a tool so as to develop further communicational skills and children’s emotional intelligence, as well as to enhance their interpersonal relationships with their peers. Consequently, it can be argued that films could constitute a strong motive for the development of communication and the improvement of relationships among pupils, marking out the value of emotional intelligence and possibilities of movies’ utilization in the context of the classroom.
