Abstract

In any advanced state based on the principles of democracy and social justice, it is considered necessary to fully develop the capacities of all pupils, and therefore gifted children, within the framework of equal educational opportunities. In European countries, there is no uniform educational system to support gifted children. Some states follow an inclusion approach, while in some other gifted children they are trained as a group with special educational needs (Łubianka & Sękowski, 2013). Unfortunately, the Greek educational reality is disappointing, as there is no special care for the design and implementation of programs tailored to this end (Foustana, 2007). Model schools may be a structure that moves in this direction. Educational measures that could be adopted in Greece for the education of gifted students include enrichment programs, a diversified curriculum, and related teacher education (Theodoridou, 2006).
