In order to restrict the superficial approach of the term “giftedness” and to promote the multi-faceted dimension of its meaning, it is essential to aim for its thorough comprehension and profound depiction. Given the fact, it is attained to imprint both the cognitive and the psycho-emotional parenting reaction, when realising their child’s particular talents, as well as the later confrontation of that specific situation, which could influence and direct the relations among the family members. The present proposal is attempting to explore the parental perceptions and the factors which could contribute in a negative way to gifted students’ academic achievements. In addition, a starting point is to be constituted for a critical approach concerning the implementation of organized parental strategies, aiming to the enhancement of the already provided academic incentives within the immediate family. Finally, it is attempted to present optimizing ways which could affect positively the relationship between parents and their gifted children and to point the vital presence of mental health counseling, which has the ability to provide specialized guidance in relation to the developmental perspective of a gifted child and the configuration of family relations.
