Abstract
In the context of Environmental Education, institutions play an important role in both formal and non-formal education.
The purpose of this paper is to highlight the work of the Environmental Education Institutions with regards to reshaping the environmental education of students and teachers by means of enhancement of this experiential teaching method (Stylianidis, 2011: 349).
In particular, the organizations responsible for achieving the both aim, are the school units, the Offices for the Sustainability Education (O.S.E.), the Environmental Education Centers (E.E.C.) and the central body of management and support (Stylianidis, 2011: 354).
The formation of the E.E. Institutions serves to organize and support the school activities and programs of the E.E. Through these activities the transfer of appropriate and adequate knowledge and methodological tools to school for the reading, analysis and study of the environment and its problems is achivied (Kalaitzidis, Ouzounis, 2000: 65).
The ultimate goal of all the above is for students to acquire ecological knowledge, to become aware of environmental problems and environmental degradation and to contribute through their individual and collective work to achieving and maintaining a dynamic balance between the quality of life and the quality of the environment (Hungerford, Peyton, Wilke, 1980: 42).
