Abstract
Developments in the New Technologies sector are constantly offering new opportunities for learning at the level of teaching. Over the last decade, the digitization of a large number of cultural heritage material has been a priority for cultural organizations and educational institutions, making it possible for every potential internet user to access it. However, although significant efforts have been made in recent years, popular culture is still not a priority of the Greek educational system. The text attempts to highlight popular culture in the age of ICT. Initially, the importance of digital collections and their potential to exploit the approach of folk culture as a research field, with a target group of secondary school students, is analyzed. At the practical level, the digital collection of the Folklore Archives and the Museum Collection of the University of Athens Folklore Studies, which is included in the "Pergamos" digital library, developed by the Library's Computer Center, is being studied. There are also explored ways of making creative use of the collection material, with the aim of shaping, enhancing and developing knowledge, skills and attitudes. Finally, the perspectives opened in the modern digital age for the development and promotion of simplified digital collections of folklore content by the students themselves, using open source software such as OMEKA
