Abstract

Gifted and talented are students who perform or show potential for performance at remarkably high levels of completion, compared to other people of the same age, experience or environment, in areas such as intellect, art and creation and have an unusual ability to lead or excel in specific academic areas, resulting in the need for educational services and teaching activities not provided in schools. The aim of the research is to present instructional strategies, but also the contribution of teachers to discover and enhance the talents of gifted students. The findings showed that the dominant techniques are differentiated teaching, enrichment, acceleration, and focus, which, in combination with the formation of suitable pedagogical conditions by competent teachers, will contribute to the development of their capabilities into outstanding achievements. In conclusion, when inspired teachers are able to identify these students on time, providing them with appropriate training programs, that meet their particular needs and abilities, will enable them to optimize their talents, aiming at excellence for the benefit of themselves and society as a whole.
