Αποφυγή ειδήσεων στη Γενιά Ζ: Μια πρώτη ματιά
Περίληψη
This study examines news avoidance phenomenon among Generation Z, focusing on both conscious and unconscious behaviors and their underlying motivations. Drawing on eye-tracking data and self-reported questionnaires, the research investigates how young adults interact with news content of varying thematic and emotional orientations. The findings reveal a complex pattern. Negative news attracts significant visual attention, yet participants report consciously limiting engagement due to psychological self-protection, emotional regulation, and selective participation. Contradictions between observed attention and self-perceived avoidance highlight the multifaceted and sometimes unconscious nature of news avoidance. Qualitative feedback points to a shift toward digital media, lack of relevance to personal interests, and distrust in traditional outlets as additional drivers. The study demonstrates that news avoidance is not mere disinterest but a strategic adaptation to an information-overloaded environment. Furthermore, the participatory methodology fosters self-reflection and critical thinking, emphasizing the potential of experiential research in understanding media behaviors.
