Περίληψη

This study examines the transformation of journalism in the era of the Fifth Industrial Revolution. Drawing on in-depth interviews with professional journalists, it investigates how the roles of journalists and audiences are being reshaped through participatory practices and technological innovation. The central research question guiding this inquiry is: In what ways are ethical principles and journalistic practices being redefined as heightened audience participation and the automation of content production reshape the journalistic landscape? The findings reveal ambivalent attitudes toward participatory journalism. While its potential to enhance democratic communication and foster closer engagement with citizens’ needs is acknowledged, significant concerns are also raised, including risks of misinformation, diminished accountability, and the erosion of professional ethics. Furthermore, the study underscores the uncertainties surrounding the adoption of technologies such as artificial intelligence and automation, which are rapidly transforming the production, dissemination, and verification of information. Particular emphasis is placed on the ethical challenges that emerge, with participants highlighting the necessity of revising normative frameworks to safeguard the quality and credibility of journalism in an evolving media environment.
