Περίληψη

This research paper focuses on how far-right discourse was constructed and disseminated on Tik Tok’s digital platform, following the report by the Hellenic Authority for the Investigation of Aviation and Railway Accidents (EODASAAM) regarding the railway accident at Tempi, in February 2023. The accident was a traumatic and multifaceted event for Greece, acting as a catalyst for the emergence and reconstruction of political narratives regarding responsibility, national identity, and the crisis of trust in institutions. This paper examines: a) the dominant narratives promoted by far-right actors, b) the audiovisual strategies, symbols, and emotional appeals used to enhance the reach of this discourse, and c) the role of Tik Tok's algorithmic mechanisms in the dissemination of these narratives. Through the analysis of the narrative and audiovisual strategies adopted by three far-right political personas (Kyriakos Velopoulos, "Spartiates" and Afroditi Latinopoulou) and three independent content creators on the digital space, specifically on the social media platform TikTok, it was found that, although the selected far-right representatives belong to the same political and ideological space, their approaches to the issue of the Tempi railway accident differed significantly. The main findings of the analysis are organized around three central axes: the dominant narratives about "Crime," "Cover-up," "Treason," and "State Incompetence," the rhetorical and visual strategies employed for persuasion, and the ideological structure that supports the entire argumentation.
