Η κυριαρχία του ποδοσφαίρου στην αθλητική ειδησεογραφία του 2024 υπό το πρίσμα της Industry 5.0
Περίληψη
The study examined the dominance of football in Greek sports journalism in 2024, within the framework of the 5th Industrial Revolution (Industry 5.0). Initially, it highlighted the close interconnection between sports, the economy, and the media, as well as the decisive role of technology in the evolution of sports communication. At the theoretical level, the Agenda Setting Theory was applied in order to interpret the priority given to specific sports. The research was based on a quantitative content analysis of 1,959 front pages from five sports newspapers, recording a total of 17.337 references and 9.854 photographs. The findings revealed football’s dominant position, accounting for 72,3% of both topics and images, followed by basketball with approximately 18,6%. Other sports remain marginalized, appearing only sporadically on the newspapers’ daily agenda. The conclusion is that Greek sports journalism maintains a football-centered character, reinforced by the commercialization of the sport and advertising practices. Within the context of Industry 5.0, it is proposed that technology be utilized to broaden thematic coverage and bring less-publicized sports to the forefront, thereby fostering sporting diversity and enhancing the social responsibility of the media.
